Good morning first graders!
Today we will do “The Weekend’s Near” greeting! Ms. Wright will read a book to us. I’m excited to see the new shapes on our calendar.

This chart will help us keep track of the patterns with each of the figures shown on the markers and the observations we make about each figure during the month.

Do you remember what a shape with 5 sides is called?
It's a pentagon!
Trace the square. Cut it out.
Can you fold this figure to get two equal, congruent parts?
Learning Activities for Friday
- Reading
- Read books for 20 minutes.
- How did the characters' feelings change in the book?
- Writing
- Publish your book. Make sure you have a title. Color your pictures. You might want to add an “about the author” blurb.
- Math
- Keep your word problem solving skills sharp with this “Word Problem” worksheet. Remember to show your work!
- Science
- Remember, all sound is made by vibrations. Think about the experiments you have done the last few days (sound walk, rubber band, spatula, touching your throat). Explain how each of these experiments showed sound being made by vibrations.
- Or, Mystery Science Lesson 6 How do boats find their way in the fog?
- Social Studies
- Each day, notice the weather and fill it in on the weather graph. Complete the paper called Wild Weather Day. You can also do the weather crossword puzzle.
